LAUDERHILL, Fla. – The Save the Twinz comedy show and concert kicks off National Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The all-volunteer organization stresses the importance of research, breast exams, and mammogram screenings in minority communities.
"Women of color are significantly impacted by breast cancer," said Andrea John-Baptiste, co-chair of Save the Twinz. "We often are impacted younger, we're diagnosed at a younger age with a more aggressive form of breast cancer."
"My godmother just got diagnosed with colon cancer -- praise God she had an operation and she's in remission now -- and it just touched close to me because I feel like whether we are directly or indirectly affected, cancer is everywhere," added Envee, a local singer who'll be performing at the concert Saturday.
