Man found dead inside Plantation apartment

Father discovers son shot in head inside apartment bedroom

PLANTATION, Fla. – Police are investigating after a man was found shot in the head inside a Plantation apartment.

The man lives on the third floor of the apartment where the incident happened.

Police were called out to the complex by a neighbor earlier in the day about 4 p.m. because of a report of someone shooting in the parking lot. However, the officer said he didn't find anything.

The man's father came by to check on his 26-year-old son when he discovered him about 6 p.m. inside his apartment bedroom.

Authorities said it's unclear if the two incidents are related. No witnesses reporting hearing any gunfire coming from the unit around the time the man was found.

Police said it doesn't appear to be a suicide as detectives were waiting for the medical examiner to arrive.

Local 10's Terrell Forney reports that at the top of the steps there was a cleaning cart, similar to the one used by hotel maids, and a chair almost blocking the path of the steps and front door.

Police said it could belong to the unit, but they are just as perplexed as to why it's out in front of the apartment door.
