South Florida SPCA rescues 10 horses found in Miami-Dade field
Horses taken to rescue ranch in Homestead
MIAMI – South Florida SPCA says its organization rescued 10 horses Thursday after they were found in a southwest Miami-Dade field, in an area known as "The 8.5."
Rotten tomatoes, lettuce, corn cobs and avocados mixed with packets of ketchup and mustard and other unidentifiable food waste, was all that the horses had to survive on, according to South Florida SPCA.
An Arabian stallion, two Paso Finos, two paints and five quarter horse types were taken to the South Florida SPCA rescue ranch in Homestead.
"They are all getting proper feed, clean water and safe shelter, and will be evaluated by the SPCA's veterinarian, Dr. Zachary Franklin," the organization said on its website.
South Florida SPCA said the owner of the horses is unknown at this time.
