MIAMI – Carnaval Miami Run, a carnaval-style ocean view race that begins and ends on the beach, will take place Feb. 23.

Organizers of the event said carnaval marching bands start the race that will take participants through paths for both the 5K Run/Walk and the 8K Run.

As attendees reach the end of the finish line, organizers said participants can celebrate with arroz con pollo and salsa music.

There will be awards to overall male and female winners, and the top three in the 8K category. Organizers said the 5K participants will receive an official time with awards for the overall male and female winners.

A portion of the proceeds benefit the Children's Cancer Caring Center.
