2 in custody after Girl Scouts robbed outside Winn Dixie

Surveillance video helps nab suspects

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Two people were arrested Tuesday in connection with a robbery involving a group of Girl Scouts outside a Winn Dixie.

On Tuesday afternoon, Local 10's Christina Vazquez spoke exclusively with the victim of that robbery, 10-year-old girl whose cell phone was taken by the brazen thieves.

"When it happened, I didn't stop crying," said Daley Eisenmann. "It had all my mom's contacts on it, all these people."

Late Tuesday, police said they had recovered the phone and it appeared to be in good condition.

On Sunday, the girls were selling cookies at the supermarket on Davie Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.

Two teens were caught on video approaching the girls, then taking off with the phone.

Officials say surveillance video showed the two juveniles during the robbery, and were able to identify them from previous incidents in the area.

One of the juvenile suspects will not be charged at this time, police said.

The other juvenile involved is 15 years old.

He was taken into custody and charged with one count of grand theft.

That elicits empathy from Daley.

"I feel bad for him because he's just in high school, but also relieved because my mom started getting these crazy text messages. I'm just glad that I'll be OK," she said.

Daley also said she wanted to thank the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and one officer in particular who she says comforted her during her ordeal.
