Keeney Diaz accused of stabbing man during fight about woman

Deputies say dispute involved victim's girlfriend

STOCK ISLAND, Fla. – A Florida Keys man is accused of stabbing another man during a fight about a woman.

Keeney Diaz, 32, was arrested Monday on charges of aggravated battery and resisting arrest with violence.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said Diaz pulled a knife on the victim while they were fighting about the victim's girlfriend on Stock Island.

Diaz stabbed the victim in the back as he running away, Herrin said.

The victim flagged down a nearby deputy, who called paramedics and took Diaz into custody.

Herrin said Diaz struggled with the deputy after he was told he was being arrested. Two other deputies were called to try to calm Diaz, who kicked and struggled with them, Herrin said.
