Police make 11 arrests during Calle Ocho festival

MIAMI – As South Florida's biggest block party of the season wrapped up Sunday, the City of Miami police were busy patrolling the streets.

Miami police said they made 11 arrests at the festival. One arrest was made for someone carrying a concealed weapon and several others for disorderly intoxication.

The festival was full of life, hundreds of thousands of people flocked to the streets of Calle Ocho to celebrate Latin music, culture, food and more.

This year superstar Daddy Yankee was crowned as the King of Calle Ocho. The legendary Cuban salsa singer Celia Cruz was honored and celebrated with the unveiling of a silver sculpture.

The block party was shut down from Northwest 27th Avenue all the way to Eighth Avenue, but the roads are now back open.
