DCF says man took off with kids after they were to be removed from his home

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Four children believed to have been taken by their father and a female companion have been found safe.

Hollywood police said the children were found about 3:30 p.m. Monday at an apartment complex in Sunny Isles Beach.

The Florida Department of Children and Families was scheduled to remove the children from their father's home Monday.

Police said they believed James Michael Weathers, 24, was traveling with Julie Ann Pilkington, 22, and his four children -- Giovanni Weathers, 6, Julianne Weathers, 4, and 2-year-old twin boys, Isaac and Isaiah Weathers.

Weathers has been detained and is being questioned by police.
