Homeowner's house built by hand may be torn down

Orlando Pazo Toro's home has no permits, built on public property

MIAMI – A man who built his entire home using only a hammer and nails may soon have it torn down.

With no permits and the home being built on public property, city code enforcement will be forced to tear down Orlando Pazo Toro's house.

The house has an open living space, a bathroom and bedroom.

Toro, who has lived in the home behind the baseball field on Northwest 14th Street and 22nd Avenue since December, was planning to build a pigeon coop soon for his only pet.

But code enforcement officers could stand in his way.
