Coral Gables chooses new interim city manager
City chooses Carmen Olazabal while searching for permanent city manager
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The city of Coral Gables has chosen its interim city manger while the search continues for a permanent city manager.
Carmen Olazabal is currently the assistant city manager. The decision came during a special meeting Wednesday night.
Patrick Salerno announced his resignation as Coral Gables city manager earlier in April.
Salerno's resignation comes as the Coral Gables City Council was considering transferring some of his powers to the city clerk's office.
He had been city manager in Coral Gables since 2009 and previously served as city manager in Sunrise.
Salerno had his last day with the city Thursday.
