Free 'CarFit' program offered Thursday for elderly
Trained technicians will help attendees learn more about the comfort and safety settings in their cars.
WEST PARK, Fla. – Older people often get a bad rap on the road, but new statistics show that they are often the safest drivers.
More than a third have taken driver improvement courses and Thursday a free course called the 'CarFit Program' is being offered for the elderly in West Park.
The program will be held from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Station 27 located at 2610 SW 40 Ave.
The program was created through a partnership between AAA, AARP and AOTA, and is sponsored by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue. The purpose of CarFit is to promote conversations between older drivers and their families about driving safety and help seniors improve the 'fit' of their vehicles.
Trained technicians will be present during Thursday's event to help attendees learn more about the comfort and safety settings in their cars.
Interested people should contact Special Projects Coordinator Ann Zucker at 954-831-8200 for a free, 20-minute appointment.
