Men abandon boat that begins taking on water

MIAMI – Two boaters were rescued Tuesday after they abandoned their boat that was taking on water off the coast of South Florida.

The U.S. Coast Guard said one of the men on a 38-foot boat named "Doctor's Orders" used a VHF radio to alert authorities of their situation.

"We're two people getting in a life raft," the man said in his radio message to the Coast Guard.

When Coast Guard crews arrived, they found the two men in life raft about 13 miles east of Boca Raton.

The boaters were taken to Silver Palms Marina in Boca Raton. They were not injured.
