Video shows moments leading to Broward County Judge Lynn Rosenthal's arrest

Judge pleads no contest to reckless driving charge

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Local 10 News has exclusively obtained surveillance video of a Broward County judge in the moments before her arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Judge Lynn Rosenthal pleaded no contest to a reckless driving charge as part of a plea deal with prosecutors Wednesday and won't serve any prison time.

Rosenthal, 56, was arrested in May after her BMW sport utility vehicle struck a parked Broward Sheriff's Office cruiser in the parking lot of the county courthouse.

The video obtained Friday shows Rosenthal's SUV taking several wide turns, clip the BSO cruiser and then slam into the gate leading to the judge's parking lot.

Moments later, she was handcuffed and taken to jail.

Rosenthal said in a statement Wednesday that the incident was the result of "an involuntary overdose and adverse drug reaction" to a generic form of Ambien, a sleep-inducing prescription drug. She said her doctor mistakenly prescribed her twice the recommended amount.

The judge is running for re-election next month.
