HIALEAH, Fla. – Okeechobee Road was closed for several hours southbound after a fatal crash near Hialeah early Tuesday morning.
About 6:50 a.m., the driver of a four-door 1982 Mercedes rammed into the back of a truck at northwest 170th Avenue.
Florida Highway Patrol reported that the driver of the Mercedes died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the truck was not injured.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was at the scene. FHP said the roadway was closed about 7 a.m. and was shutdown until about 10 a.m.
The fatal crash happened west of the Everglades Wildlife Management Area and south of Opa-locka West Airport and Woodlawn Park Cemeteries.
