Fire boat used to help extinguish flames

MIAMI – A cargo ship caught fire late Wednesday afternoon in Miami.

The fire was reported about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at 2199 NW S. River Drive.

Heavy smoke could be seen coming from the 182-foot ship for several miles.

Firefighters used a fire boat to help extinguish the flames.

A man who works on a ship next to the one that caught fire told Local 10 News that there were men welding shortly before the fire started.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
