Co-worker remembers woman killed in Hialeah crash

Police: Regla Hernandez, 63, killed by men driving stolen car

HIALEAH, Fla. ā€“ A memorial will be held Tuesday night for the woman killed after two men crashed a stolen vehicle into her car in Hialeah last week.

Regla Hernandez's loved ones said she dedicated almost two decades of her life to cooking for students at Hialeah High School.

"She was a good worker," said Maria Sardinas, who worked with Hernandez for 15 years in the school's cafeteria.

Hernandez, 63, was killed after leaving work on Thursday. Sardinas said Hernandez stayed a little late at work like she often did, and said she'll never forget the last hug they shared.

Hernandez was killed just several blocks from her home. Police said another car ran a stop sign and hit her vehicle along East Fourth Avenue near 59 Street.

According to police, Demetrius Marquis Saunders and Diamante Lajuane Warren were arrested after they bailed out of the car. Police said the men were driving a stolen car and were looking for homes to burglarize.

Hernandez's funeral will take place Tuesday at Vista Memorial Gardens.
