Detectives said Jordan's accomplice lured the man outside by telling him a water main was broken in his backyard while Jordan sneaked inside, stealing rosary beads and about $2,000 in jewelry.

A witness was able to describe the white GMC pickup truck and license plate number, which was registered to Jordan's mother, detectives said.

It was the first of two distraction thefts in as many days in Deerfield Beach.

The next day, a man told a 75-year-old resident that he was spraying for spiders behind his townhome and wanted him to see a spider-infested tree on the street. Suspicious, the resident called authorities.

Detectives said they don't believe the same men are responsible for the two incidents, but they may be working together.
