2 men wounded in North Miami Beach shooting

Neighbors debate motive for shooting

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Police are searching for the gunmen who opened fire in a North Miami Beach neighborhood Friday, wounding two men.

The shooting occurred near Northeast 173rd Street and First Avenue.

One man was found shot inside a white Mercedes-Benz and another man was found shot in the lawn across the street.

Both victims were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in serious condition.

A neighbor told Local 10 News crime specialist John Turchin that she believes the shooting was drug-related, but another neighbor said the shooting stemmed from an unpaid debt.

Police said a group of men got out of a car and opened fire.

"They pull up and they get out of their car and they fire multiple shots at multiple parties they see outside, get back in the car and go," Maj. Kathy Katerman said.

Several vehicles were riddled by bullets.

Police are searching for a gray Chevrolet Cruze.
