Man killed in Hialeah apartment fire

2 others rushed to hospital

HIALEAH, Fla. – One man died and two others were rushed to the hospital when a fire broke out inside a Hialeah apartment building early Monday morning.

According to the Hialeah Fire Department, the fire began before 3 a.m. at 1025 W. 76th St.

One man was killed and two others were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Family, friends and neighbors identified the man who died as Carlos Campos, 52.

A police officer was also taken to the hospital as a precaution after attempting to remove a victim from the smoky conditions. He was treated and released from the hospital.

The two-story building has 40 units. Authorities believe all of the three victims were inside the same unit at the time of the fire.

Police and fire investigators searched through the debris in search of a cause.

Investigators said the preliminary cause appears to be electrical.
