Lady Antebellum surprises music teacher with instruments, free trip to NY concert

MIAMI – A music teacher from the South Miami K-8 Center was chosen as one of the seven fans that country music group Lady Antebellum is visiting before their album release and concert Tuesday night.

Vivian Gonzalez, a quarter finalist for the Grammy Music Educator of the Year, said she was surprised when the three band members walked into her classroom full of students Monday, gave her a hug, congratulated her for her hard work and dedication teaching students, and presented her with brand-new instruments.

Gonzalez's students got to perform a song for the popular group and got to sing one of Lady Antebellum's hit songs along with the stars.

Gonzalez's husband, who entered her into the contest without her knowledge, said his wife deserved this and much more.

The couple will be flown to New York City Tuesday night to attend Lady Antebellum's concert.
