Armed man holds up Miami food store, police say

Robbery captured on surveillance cameras at business Oct. 11

MIAMI – Police are searching for an armed robber who held up a food store in Miami earlier this month.

According to detectives, on Oct. 11, a man, who is a regular at the store at 13690 SW 268th Street, entered the business and walked to the back of the store.

Surveillance cameras captured the man approach the cashier with a bottle of dish soap. Police said he then asked the cashier to hand him a T-shirt from behind the counter. As the cashier handed the man the shirt, the robber grabbed the victim by the neck, took out a gun and demanded that the victim open the cash register.

The clerk complied with the man's requests and placed the money tray on the counter.

Police said the robber took off with about $150 in cash, the T-shirt and the dish soap.

Neither of the two employees inside the store at the time were injured.

Police identified the culprit as a black man between the ages of 20-30.
