Bicyclist killed in Homestead hit-and-run

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – A 29-year-old man was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Homestead, police said.

Joe Edward Torres was fatally struck by a vehicle at 6:45 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Krome Avenue and Mowry Drive while riding his bicycle, according to Homestead police.

Authorities said the vehicle, described as a silver or gray small SUV, fled after striking Torres.

The SUV may have damage to the front-left corner, and possibly the hood and windshield, police said.
