Man sets girlfriend's car, several others on fire in Hialeah, police say

Armando Hernandez, 51, charged with 8 felony counts of arson

HIALEAH, Fla. – A man who police say is a serial arsonist is facing charges after allegedly setting his girlfriend's two cars and several others on fire in a Hialeah neighborhood.

Police say undercover detectives observed Armando Hernandez, 51, set his girlfriend's silver Jaguar on fire at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Hernandez is also accused of torching another vehicle belonging to his girlfriend, six others in the neighborhood, and throwing an incendiary device into a neighbor's yard.

Police say the incidents happened between Oct. 11-Oct. 29.  No injuries were reported in any of the fires.

Hernandez is charged with eight felony counts of arson.

A motive for the arson attacks is unclear at this time.
