Garbage truck crashes into home near Plantation

Cause of crash remains unclear at this time

PLANTATION, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating after a garbage truck crashed into the side of a home near Plantation Monday afternoon.

Sky 10 was above the scene just after 4 p.m. after the blue Waste Pro truck crashed into part of the home at 1441 SW 40th Terrace and a fence leading to a neighbor's yard.

An 18-year-old woman who was inside the home at the time told Local 10 News that she was sleeping when the truck came crashing through her bedroom. Ruth Septimus said the truck knocked over her TV and hit her brother's bed, but stopped before it hit her bed.

She said the driver of the garbage truck "seemed out of it."

"Well, I'm not sure he was all there at first because he looked a little confused to what had happened," said Septimus. "He was doing everything we were telling him not to, like we were telling him to get away from the truck and he just wanted to turn off the gas. He was just all over the place."

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
