PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Cupid paid a surprise visit to Local 10 on Thursday.
For over a year now, colleagues have watched the relationship between meteorologist Trent Aric and morning anchor Jacey Birch grow from on-screen partnership to an off-screen love affair.
So while many kept wondering when Trent would make his love "official" by offering Jacey a bright, shiny ring, the longtime Local 10 veteran had a plan up his sleeve.
And the moment came when Jacey, also the station's Animal Advocate, was preparing for a taped satellite interview she thought would be with an official from the American Kennel Club.
But the tables turned when instead of a straight-laced AKC executive, up popped Trent onto the screen.
Many of her Local 10 colleagues will tell you that it was the first time they saw the boisterous, fun-loving Jacey left speechless.
Before popping the question, Trent presented a video montage of his and Jacey's lives together from when they first started working together to where they ended up, including messages from both of their families.
After the video, Trent appeared on the set, dropped to one knee and, well, you know the rest.
Contemplating the question for about a half-a-millisecond, Jacey, of course, said yes and Cupid's mission had been accomplished.
Since the surprise proposal wasn't actually on the air at Local 10, we figured we might as well share it with you now.
The happy couple have yet to set a wedding date, but there's no doubt it'll be "news" when they do.
