2 arrested in Fort Lauderdale murder, cover-up

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Two men were arrested on murder charges Monday, three months after a body was found burned in a Fort Lauderdale duplex.

Gerardo Lemus, 23, and Staling Davis Zabala, 28, both face charges of first-degree murder and covering up a crime.

The body of Eber Lucero, 38, was found the morning of Aug. 2 inside his burning home in the Broadview Park neighborhood.

Firefighters found Lucero unconscious inside one of the home's bedrooms. He was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

No one else was injured in the fire.

At this time, deputies have not released details on the manner in which Lucero was killed or a potential motive.
