Pedestrian struck in the street in Pembroke Pines

Bentley Johnson, 24, knocked unconscious after hit by car on University Drive

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Police are investigating a crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Pembroke Pines Friday morning.

According to officers, a black Honda Accord driven by Tarshoney Jones was traveling north on University Drive when the car struck 24-year-old Bentley Johnson near a McDonald's restaurant off Northwest 15th Court.

Police said Johnson was trying to cross University Drive on foot and was not at a crosswalk.

As he stepped over the guardrail, he got caught on something and fell into the northbound lane of University Drive where he was struck by Jones' car.

Johnson was knocked unconscious and suffered several broken bones.

He was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital where he regained consciousness but remains in serious condition.

Jones stayed at the scene. No charges are expected to filed.
