Broward County cooking school ordered shut because of violations

Inspectors shut down 5 other South Florida restaurants

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – A state inspector recently ordered Lenore Nolan-Ryan Cooking School & Catering shut because of a roach.

Records show five other places were also ordered shut recently for roach and rodent issues.

All the places below were allowed to re-open following ordered clean up and re-inspections.

Below is a list of the place and some of their violations:

"Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Two live roaches in a non working cooler, two live roaches under the 3 compartment sink, two live roaches on cook line floor, two live in a storage closet (chairs), approximately 20 live roaches between wine cooler and counter top."

"Dead roaches on premises. More than 50 dead roaches in kitchen floor under equipment, kitchen cabinets, storage areas, storage shelves, wiping cloth bucket and trapped in glue traps."

"Stop Sale issued due to food originating from an unproved source. Observed mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, roasted veggies and scalloped potatoes in the walk in cooler, according to PIC these food was prepared at the First Baptist Church on 301 E Broward Blvd, no license provided for this location."

"Clean glasses, cups, bowls, plates, pots and pans not stored inverted or in a protected manner."

"Case of single-service articles stored on floor in dry storage area/kitchen/wait station. Aluminum pans."

"Tracking powder pesticide used inside establishment. All over/ throughout kitchen and front counter."

"Pesticide/insecticide stored with/above food, clean equipment and utensils, clean linens and/or single-service items. Cutters insect repellent stored on drain board at 3 compartment sink."

"Potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) food identified in the written procedure as a food held using time as a public health control has no time marking and the time removed from temperature control cannot be determined. Fried rice on cook line sitting on shelf used to make fried rice per order no time marked."
