Jurnee Knox, 13, last seen entering Sunny Isles Beach school

Missing teen's last post on social media site comes hours after girl's disappearance

SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A 13-year-old girl disappeared Thursday morning after walking inside her Sunny Isles Beach school.

Sunny Isles Beach police said Jurnee Knox was last seen on surveillance video hastily walking through the front door at Norman S. Edelcup Sunny Isles Beach K-8 shortly before 8:30 a.m.

Her first-period teacher said Knox wasn't in class.

Police said it's clear she didn't leave the way she came since she wasn't seen leaving the school through the front door. They are reviewing all school security cameras to try to determine what happened.

Knox's mother said she is a straight-A student who is passionate about writing.

For fun, Knox writes short stories on a social media site for young writers called Movellas.com. Her last post was about 1 a.m. Friday, hours after she disappeared.

"I don't know where she slept last night, so I'm terrified and if anybody sees her, tell her to come home," Dorothy Knox said at a news conference. "We love her."

The family recently moved to South Florida from Belize. Her parents said the oldest of four children isn't very familiar with the area, adding to their concern.

Police are working to obtain a warrant to search the teen's phone records.

"We can't go on without her, so we're going to keep looking," Dorothy Knox said.
