MARATHON, Fla. – A homeless man apparently drowned in the swimming pool of a Marathon resort Tuesday.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said deputies were called to Banana Bay Resort after an employee spotted the man's body at the bottom of the deep end.

The employee and two others pulled Michael Cosgrove, 51, from the water and started CPR until deputies and paramedics arrived.

Cosgrove was later pronounced dead at Fisherman's Hospital.

Cosgrove's van in which he lived was found in the parking lot of the resort.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
