Gunman pulls trigger inside Wendy's restaurant, weapon does not discharge

Broward Sheriff's Office looking for man in armed robbery

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – A man walked into a Wendy's restaurant and said, "I don't want to shoot you."

When the cashier said he didn't have the register's key, the man pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at him.

"Give me all your money," the gunman said before pulling the trigger.

The gun did not discharge. There were customers in the restaurant, 355 W. Hillsboro Blvd.

The cashier found a way to open the register and the armed man took several hundred dollars, deputies said.

Witnesses told deputies he fled in a white car, but aside from it having four doors, they could not provide a description.

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are asking anyone with information on the Dec. 9 robbery to call BSO Detective Mark Copley at 954-321-4270 or CrimeStoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
