Coast Guard finds submerged Cessna, pilot
MIAMI – A man was rescued Monday in the Bahamas after his plane crashed into the ocean.
The U.S. Coast Guard said a Cessna was reported overdue on a trip from Norman Cay, Bahamas, to Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. The plane had last been seen on radar descending east of South Bimini Airport in the Bahamas.
A Coast Guard helicopter crew was able to locate the submerged plane and pilot, identified as David Pedroza, 43, in the water.
He was safely pulled from the water and treated for a minor injury.
