Man with missing Coral Gables teenage girl 'armed and dangerous,' police say

Fabel Gin Escalante, 20, threatens 16-year-old before disappearance

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Police said Tuesday that Fabel Gin Escalante is "armed and dangerous." The 20-year-old threatened to kill a 16-year-old student from Coral Gables before she disappeared Friday.

Miami-Dade school police issued a warrant for his arrest Tuesday afternoon.  The "wanted" poster warned in red that he needs to be approached "with caution" and described him as being 5-feet, 2-inches in height and weighing about 115 pounds.

Escalante has a criminal record that includes battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, aggravated assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Coral Gables High School student Samantha Delgado's mom told police that she hasn't seen her since she dropped her off at school Friday. She was wearing a brown jacket, blue jeans, a top with black and maroon stripes and navy blue Crocs shoes.

Police believe Delgado is with Escalante. Samantha's cousin Dede Delgado said Escalante had pursued her romantically. And the girl's friend Beltania Bermudez said Samantha was afraid of him.

Escalante had threatened Samantha, and warned that if he ever saw her dating somebody else "he was going to kill him and her," Delgado said Monday.

Police believe Escalante is driving a black Audi station wagon. Police were asking anyone with information to call police or report any tips to 305-995-2677 or 305-471- 8477.
