BSO detention deputy repeatedly steals from Walmart, detectives say
Theodore Parrish surrenders on petit theft charges
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Broward Sheriff's Office detention deputy accused of repeatedly stealing from a Walmart in Coral Springs has been arrested.
BSO spokeswoman Dani Moschella said Theodore Parrish turned himself in Tuesday afternoon.
Parrish, who has worked for the BSO since March 2000, faces misdemeanor charges of petit theft.
Detectives said Parrish stole miscellaneous merchandise worth $176.14 on five days in November and December.
In each instance, detectives said, Parrish went through the store's self-checkout register, where he scanned and paid for some while intentionally placing others directly in a Walmart bag without scanning them.
Walmart notified BSO detectives of the thefts Dec. 10.
