Parrish, who has worked for the BSO since March 2000, faces misdemeanor charges of petit theft.

Detectives said Parrish stole miscellaneous merchandise worth $176.14 on five days in November and December.

In each instance, detectives said, Parrish went through the store's self-checkout register, where he scanned and paid for some while intentionally placing others directly in a Walmart bag without scanning them.

Walmart notified BSO detectives of the thefts Dec. 10.
