Small plane makes emergency landing in Key West

Pilot says engine failure to blame

KEY WEST, Fla. – A small plane was on its way in from Naples when it was forced to make an emergency landing in the Florida Keys.

The pilot of a single-engine aircraft reported having engine failure shortly before it crashed into a salt pond just short of the runway at Key West International Airport at 10:20 a.m. Saturday.

The plane was resting in about three feet of water.

Six people were on board at the time of the incident.

No injuries were reported.
