Sex offender wanted in Oregon captured in Fla. Keys
Stephan Brewer taken into custody Tuesday at Islamorada convenience store
ISLAMORADA, Fla. – A sex offender who failed to register in Oregon has been caught in the Florida Keys.
Stephan Brewer, 49, was taken into custody Tuesday at a convenience store in Islamorada, Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.
The U.S. Marshals Service contacted sheriff's detectives after receiving information that Brewer might be in the Islamorada area.
Brewer has an outstanding warrant in Oregon for a parole violation because he failed to register as a sex offender after he was released from prison for sexual battery on a child, Herrin said.
Jail records show Brewer was working as a cook in Islamorada.
Herrin said Brewer will be extradited back to Oregon.
