John has had an opportunity to cover 20 hurricanes, more than a dozen plane crashes, coups, volcano eruptions, murders, kidnappings, forest fires, the bizarre -- you name it. And, he has been to different parts of the world to cover these events -- Antigua, Cuba, France, Haiti, Mexico, San Salvador and the Dominican Republic. He has interviewed presidents, a pope, senators, members of the House of Representatives, actors and athletes, not to mention dozens of criminals, whom he has played a part in locking up. John did take a hiatus from the television industry in 1990 when he went to work for Burger King Corp. as the director of marketing and public relations. There, he helped develop several initiatives.

But more important to John is his devotion to his wife and five children. He is extremely involved in activities that raise money for underprivileged kids, curricula that influence children in a positive way and programs that keep kids off the streets and out of trouble. He spends many hours each year volunteering at local elementary, middle and senior high schools reading, tutoring, teaching and speaking.
