Miami Gardens man killed in early morning crash

FHP: Victor Abreu failed to yield to right of way

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. ā€“ A Miami Gardens man was killed in an early morning crash Thursday.

The crash occurred at Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest 167th Street shortly after 12:15 a.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Victor Abreu, 53, was traveling north of Northwest 27th Avenue when he failed to yield to the right of way and made a left turn onto Northwest 167th Street.

A Chevrolet traveling south on Northwest 27th Avenue plowed into the side of Abreu's car, sending it into a concrete pole.

The front of the car caught fire, but it was extinguished before reaching Abreu, who was still in the driver's seat.

Abreu was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers believe alcohol may have played a role in the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet had minor injuries.
