Stretch of I-75 reopens after fog prompts closure

Alligator Alley closed between mile marker 101, U.S. 27 for several hours

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – A stretch of Interstate 75 known as Alligator Alley reopened shortly before 9 a.m. Friday after it was closed because of heavy fog.

I-75 was closed for several hours between mile marker 101 in Collier County and U.S. Highway 27 in western Broward County because of reduced visibility caused by the fog, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The entrance and exit ramps at State Road 29 were also closed.

Drivers headed to the Gulf Coast were being detoured at U.S. 27 south to Krome Avenue and then west on U.S. Highway 41. Drivers headed east were being detoured in Collier County south to Tamiami Trail.
