Boil water notice issued for Weston neighborhood

Sinkhole caused water main break early Sunday morning

WESTON, Fla. – A precautionary boil water notice remains in effect for a Weston neighborhood after a sinkhole caused an 8-inch water main break early Sunday morning.

An SUV was stuck in the sinkhole in the Country Isles Patio 1 community on Columbia Street, but crews were able to get it out without severe damage. Several homes in the area were also evacuated.

City officials said the pipe has since been repaired and the water is back on in the neighborhood.

Still, officials advise residents that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes be boiled. They said water should be boiled or one minute, or bottled water should be used.

The boil water notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows two consecutive days of satisfactory sample results that the water is safe to consume.
