Woman accused of running from officers, throwing stolen gun under vehicle

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A 20-year-old woman was arrested after she fired a shot into the air during a weekend altercation in South Beach, police said.

Nicole Tyler was arrested Saturday morning on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, using a firearm while under the influence and grand theft.

Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said a group of people were involved in a fight in the 900 block of Ocean Drive.

During the dispute, Tyler pulled out a gun and fired a shot into the air, Rodriguez said. There were no injuries.

A group of people ran off but were quickly detained by police.

According to the arrest report, officers ordered Tyler to stop, but she threw a gun under a vehicle and continued to run. Officers eventually caught up with her and took her into custody.

Police said the gun was reported stolen in Miami Gardens on March 13.
