Coast Guard auxiliary members honored after extensive training

MIAMI – The first team of Coast Guard Auxiliary Mass Rescue Operations specialists named their first 15 members that will assist in the event of major disaster involving large numbers of people at sea.

Those honored were presented with badges and certificates signifying the completion of their extensive training in areas such as search and rescue and on-scene coordination of landing sites and family reception centers.

Coast Guard officials said the AMROS program is expected to be carried to other areas of the country in the near future.
