Naples man arrested after gator found in son's bedroom

Kevin Gill says he 'didn't think it was a big deal'

NAPLES, Fla. ā€“ A man in Naples is facing felony charges after deputies said they found an alligator in his son's bedroom.

Collier County sheriff's deputies said they were searching Kevin Gill's home on a warrant when they found the baby gator.

Gill said his family found a bird attacking the gator and was trying to protect the baby.

"I didn't think it was a big deal because there's millions of them and they said they took them off the endangered species list," Gill told WBBH in Fort Myers.

Gill said he fed the gator fish and was trying to nurse the animal back to health.

"I don't understand why it would be illegal, and everybody that I've talked to is amazed that I was arrested for something like that," Gill said.

It is a felony to keep a gator in Florida without a license.
