KEY WEST, Fla. – A 45-year-old Key West woman was arrested Friday after forging a doctor's signature on a note excusing her from work, a Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Becky Herrin said Dr. George Peterson notified deputies after he was contacted by the Monroe County school board about one of his patients.

Peterson said he'd seen Wardlow in October and given her a note excusing her from work one day. However, school board officials said Wardlow turned in a note with his signature on it excusing her from work for three weeks.

Wardlow admitted to altering the doctor's note when confronted about it, Herrin said.
