Man accused of stabbing father in Pompano Beach arrested
Thomas Wycoff Jr., 27, faces charge of attempted premeditated murder
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A 27-year-old man is behind bars after stabbing his father during an altercation at a home in Pompano Beach on Monday, deputies said.
According to the Broward Sheriff's Office arrest report, Thomas Wycoff Jr. stabbed his father, Thomas Wycoff Sr., multiple times in the back of the head, his back, arm area and flanks.
Deputies said Wycoff Sr.'s kidney, liver and both lungs were punctured.
The victim was taken to Broward Heath North, where he is listed in serious but stable condition after undergoing emergency surgery and a blood transfusion.
Deputies said the victim told them that his son stabbed him.
A search warrant for Wycoff Sr.'s home was issued, and detectives found two bloody knives at the home. Detectives said one of the knives had a broken blade, which was found in the victim's bedroom.
Detectives said Wycoff Jr. denied stabbing his father and said he stays with him once a week and lives with his wife at a home across the street the rest of the time.
Deputies said the suspect's wife said they have been separated since January because of Wycoff Jr.'s excessive drug use.
Wycoff Jr. was taken into custody Tuesday on a charge of attempted premeditated murder.
