MIAMI – A Sweetwater employee was arrested Tuesday, accused of having sex with a 12-year-old girl.
Luis Quintero, 23, faces charges of sexual battery on a minor and lewd and lascivious battery on a minor.
Miami-Dade police said Quintero knew the girl's family and befriended her via social media.
On one occasion, Quintero entered the girl's bedroom and forced her to have sex with him, police said. On another occasion, Quintero had sex with the girl in the front seat of his truck in the driveway of her home, police said.
Family members learned about what happened and notified police.
Sweetwater spokeswoman Claudia Miro said Quintero works for the city's maintenance department. She said he was suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
Quintero was arrested and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
