Man taken into custody after chase in Fort Lauderdale

Police say suspect crashed stolen car into tree, ran from officers

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man was taken into custody in a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood after he bailed out of a stolen car and ran from police officers.

Sky 10 flew above the scene Tuesday morning in the area of Northwest 19th Street and 31st Avenue as the man was handcuffed by police.

Police said the suspect was driving a stolen red sedan that crashed into a tree nearby. Police said the car may have been used in a burglary.

Officers chased the suspect through the backyards of several homes.

The suspect's identity wasn't immediately known.
