Police search for man wanted in armed kidnapping, sexual battery attempt

Woman walking by herself early Monday morning when she was attacked

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police were passing out flyers in a northeast Miami-Dade County neighborhood Wednesday evening in hopes of receiving information that will lead investigators to the man who attacked a woman early Monday morning.

Miami-Dade police said the incident happened between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m. Monday in the area of Northeast 115th Street and West Dixie Highway.

Police said the victim was walking home after getting off a bus when a man approached her from behind, knocked her down and dragged her behind a business.

The man, who was armed, then tried to sexually assault the woman, police said.

Surveillance video released Tuesday shows the woman struggling with the man before running away.

The attacker is described as a black man who is in his 20s and is about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build. Police said he had thick eyebrows and was wearing a dark skully hat at the time of the attack.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
