Woman struck, killed by Tri-Rail train in Miami-Dade County

Passengers frustrated by lack of information

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman is dead after being struck by a Tri-Rail train Sunday in northeast Miami-Dade County.

The train, which had 138 passengers on board, was traveling north when it struck a woman near Miami Gardens Drive.

Both the north and southbound trains were temporarily stopped between the Hollywood and Golden Glades Tri-Rail stations after the crash.

Frustrated passengers told Local 10 News they were stranded mid-commute with very little information.

"Lack of information, lack of representation and just being shoved onto a platform without any trains coming by, just waiting and not knowing what's going to happen," Greg Meyes said.

Passengers were delayed several hours before being bussed between the stations.

It was not immediately known why the woman was on the tracks when she was struck.
