Teen accused of snatching iPad from 4-year-old appears in court

Aaron Sapp, 16, to remain in juvenile detention for 21 days

TAMARAC, Fla. – A teenager accused of snatching an iPad from a 4-year-old boy inside a hair salon in Tamarac late last month made his first court appearance Tuesday morning.

Aaron Sapp, 16, was arrested Monday on armed robbery and probation violation charges.

Police said Sapp had just been released from a juvenile residential facility when the crime occurred. Now prosecutors are working to decide on whether he will be moved to a more secure facility.

According to police, Sapp is the teen seen in surveillance video grabbing an iPad out of the hands of a 4-year-old boy who was waiting for his mother to finish her shift at Grace Salon.

Olympic gold medalist Howard Davis Jr. later donated a replacement iPad to the salon.

Sapp will be held in juvenile detention for 21 days while his case is processed.

His next court hearing is scheduled for Aug. 24.
